Manager, Investigative and Forensic Services

Rodney Plunkett is a Manager with MNP’s Valuation, Forensics and Litigation Support Services group. Working out of the Calgary office, Rodney helps organizations improve IT, cyber and computer security, investigate security breaches and design and implement plans to mitigate security risks.

Rodney has more than 25 years of experience in computer forensics and investigations, physical and IT security, cyber protection, system certification and accreditation and police and security operations. He also has considerable knowledge of and practical experience with project management activities, with a particular emphasis on security architecture, budgeting, scheduling and risk management.

A veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, Rodney served for more than 23 years in the Military Police, retiring in 2011 with the senior officer rank of Major. He spent eight years as a computer forensic examiner in the Canadian Forces National Investigations Service (CFNIS) and set up and managed the Military Police’s first Computer Forensics Unit.

Rodney has a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University, where he concentrated on criminology. He has taken the Encase Forensic Intermediate Analysis and Reporting and Encase Email and Internet examinations as well as Encase Intermediate Computer Forensics. Rodney has also completed many computer-related investigations courses at the Canadian Police College, including Electronic Search and Seizure courses for PCs and Macs, Telecommunications Fraud, and Networking Principles and Investigative Techniques.
