Austen leads the buildout and growth of MNP’s International Tax Services group in the Prairies. He is also a member of the firm’s Tax Services team in Calgary. Austen is passionate about helping his clients solve challenging, complex international tax problems by providing innovative cross-border tax solutions. He takes the time to learn more about each client’s business and unique circumstances to advise them in the most effective way possible.

Austen’s services include inbound and outbound international tax advisory and compliance. He works closely with clients in the real estate, oil and gas, agriculture, health care, technology, and professional services sectors. Austen helps high net worth individuals and family offices, public and private corporations, and not-for-profit organizations. He serves organizations expanding into and out of Canada with cross-border restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, tax due diligence, and cross-border financing considerations.

Austen earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) in accounting and finance from the University of Alberta in 2010. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 2013. Austen completed CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program in 2016, the In-Depth International Tax Program in 2017, and the In-Depth Corporate Reorganizations, Taxation course in 2019. He is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and International Fiscal Association Canada.
