This large critical infrastructure organization was looking to overhaul their OT network for all electrical substations within their oil sands mine. Originally a flat network and unable to handle the current traffic load, it had been built without fundamental cyber security principles. With a shift to a North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC-CIP) Medium Impact rating on the horizon, the network had to rearchitect.

MNP worked with the organization to rebuild their network, incorporating NERC-CIP standards, internal network design standards and industry best practices. The new design included comprehensive security and performance monitoring, offsite backups of servers and critical automation controllers, as well as an identity and access management solution.
