Synopsis

EPCOR Water Services (EPCOR) needed a tool that would facilitate the selection of a project delivery methodology based on the desired project outcomes. Here’s how MNP helped the company achieve its goals.

Challenge

EPCOR engaged MNP to develop a Project Delivery Selection Tool (PDS Tool) to enable business units to select a project delivery method (design-bid-build, construction manager at risk, design-build, or integrated project delivery) based on the desired outcomes of each project. The tool needed to facilitate discussion between project management and the planning/estimating team to determine the project's objectives during the investment justification stage of the capital delivery model.

Solution

After discovery meetings, MNP conducted review sessions of the following key activities:

  • Document and communicate delivery models
  • Document selection criteria
  • Build selection model
  • Document outcomes
  • Integrate model into capital delivery model
  • Finalize and sign-off on finalized model

Result

EPCOR now has a tool to standardize the project delivery methodology selection process and facilitate discussions on the desired outcomes of each project. MNP met with members of EPCOR’s team and integrated the PDS Tool into EPCOR’s Capital Delivery Model.
