Maggie Bussières: an inspiring journey at MNP
Maggie Bussières joined MNP as a Senior Manager following a major acquisition in Québec a few years ago. She holds a Bachelor of Administration (finance) from Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, a Master’s of Taxation from Université de Sherbrooke and her Financial Planner designation from the Association de planification fiscale et financière.
After her Master’s degree, Maggie decided to return home to start her career at one of the Big Four, convinced that she would learn quickly in that environment. She began as a Senior Analyst in an office without a full-time tax specialist. As such, she had to learn the ropes from employees working at two different offices located one hour from her home.
Maggie was soon asked to take on several responsibilities, quickly honing her technical skills to help clients. In a span of less than five years after university, she was named Manager, then Senior Manager, and finally Partner. She attributes her success to the close collaboration that exists at MNP, which allowed her to draw on the experience and expertise of several partners.

Maggie has always been focused on the well-being of her colleagues, client satisfaction and the growth of the Firm. If she has one piece of advice for students that wish to pursue a career in her field, it is “to get to know yourself, to respect your limits, and to trust the experienced people around you”.
Outside of MNP, Maggie has long been involved in aquatics, practising competitive lifeguarding and competitive swimming. These passions have taught her how to persevere, how to push her limits, and the importance of surrounding yourself with good people. Maggie believes that a balanced lifestyle is an abstract concept, and that everyone has their own sweet spot. A new mother, she was pleasantly surprised at how much family life is valued at MNP.
Maggie especially loves the variety of challenges that MNP offers. For her, every day is different. At MNP, she has found an environment where she can grow and explore new ideas while staying true to her values and ambitions.
