How did you get into accounting?
I wasn’t sure about my career path initially. I attended business school at the University of Manitoba without a specific major in mind. It was during my first accounting course that I found my stride and decided to pursue it further.
What do you enjoy most about being an accountant?
For me, the most fulfilling aspect is the client interaction. I enjoy helping clients navigate through challenging situations or significant business events. Witnessing their journey from stress to confidence as we work together is incredibly rewarding.
What is your role at MNP?
As a newly appointed partner at MNP, my focus is on private enterprise, real estate and construction, and professional services such as healthcare and legal practices. I also manage the financial needs of small to medium-sized private businesses. My role involves providing strategic advice, overseeing audit and advisory services, personal tax returns, and ensuring clients receive proactive support tailored to their specific needs.
How would you characterize your approach to helping clients?
I strive to maintain a balanced approach with clients — easygoing yet detail-oriented. Clear and frequent communication is key for me. I believe in transparency throughout our work together, ensuring clients are well informed and confident in our process.
What have you learned about yourself during your professional journey?
Through my career, I’ve discovered that I possess a more extroverted nature than I initially thought. Engaging with clients and leading discussions have become aspects of my role that I genuinely enjoy and excel in.
What are some trends or changes in the accounting industry that you find exciting?
Successfully managing client transitions during organizational changes at MNP with minimal disruption has been a source of pride. Additionally, achieving partnership here has been a significant milestone for me personally and professionally.
How do you enjoy life outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active with mountain biking and running. Spending time with my family is also a priority, whether it’s outdoor activities or simply being together at home.
