National Professional Services Firm, MNP, Expands Presence in Sherbrooke

November 19, 2024, CALGARY, AB – MNP, one of Canada’s largest national professional services firms, is pleased to announce that it will join forces with the chartered professional accounting firm, Stéphane Viens CPA & ass. inc., effective February 1, 2025.

Based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Stéphane Viens CPA & ass. inc. is led by two partners: Stéphane Viens and Dominique Trahan, supported by a team of six professionals.

MNP has been steadily expanding its footprint throughout Quebec since entering the market in 2011 with its first office in Montreal. Today, MNP has 34 offices, 202 partners and over 1,400 team members across the province. Regional Managing Partner for the South of Quebec region, Eric Grondin, FCPA, said this first merger in Sherbrooke reflects MNP’s continued commitment to the growth of MNP in the regions:

“We are very happy to welcome the Stéphane Viens CPA & ass. inc. team to our Firm. We have always had great respect for them. Like our existing team in Sherbrooke, they have a deep understanding of the region’s business community and a focus on helping mid-market companies thrive. We also share an important client base in the professionals (doctors, dentists, etc.) space. By bringing our two teams together, we will be even better positioned to support our growing clients with a wide breadth of services.”

Stéphane Viens CPA & ass. inc. Partner, Stéphane Viens, says the merger strengthens his team's ability to support their clients:

"MNP augments and elevates our existing services, offering enhanced support that will enable us to better serve our clients as they grow and their requirements evolve. Moreover, this merger opens up new prospects for our team members to gain knowledge and advance their careers by collaborating with MNP’s varied teams and extensive network of resources."

Founded in 1958, MNP has grown to more than 130 locations across Canada and delivers a wide range of services and specialized expertise in every sector and area of business. While becoming the largest of the mid-market focused firms in Canada, MNP has continued to maintain its Canadian roots, helping Canadian businesses both at home and abroad.

"We have grown quickly but we are absolutely committed to maintaining our culture and so have always been very strategic about who we invite to join our team," added Jeremy Cole, FCPA, FCA, CBV, MNP's Executive Vice President for the GTA and Quebec. "We are known across the communities we work with as being one of Canada's most-trusted professional services firms, so we are excited to welcome a very well-respected practice in Stéphane Viens CPA & ass. inc. into the MNP family. Our cultures and values are well-aligned, and we share the same entrepreneurial, trusted approach to doing business."

Dominique Trahan, Partner at Stéphane Viens, CPA & ass. inc. says one of the deciding factors to join MNP was the culture:

"Despite being a large national firm, MNP is renowned throughout Canada for its local focus and its small-firm culture, as well as its dedication to supporting the communities where its teams live and work. This was a crucial factor for us.”

The Stéphane Viens CPA & ass. inc. team will move into MNP’s Sherbrooke office, as of the effective date. The team will work MNP’s existing teams across Quebec to enjoy access to greater resources and services to help businesses in their community.
