Derek is a member of MNP’s Assurance and Accounting Services team in Prince George. Derek brings more than 15 years of accounting and tax experience in public practice working with small- to medium-sized businesses to his role, along with more than a decade of computer and network administration support experience. He adds value through full-service accounting relationships, as well as helping with single transaction due diligence.

Derek has been involved in numerous First Nations, not-for-profit, and private business audit and review engagements, as well as consulting and advisory engagements. He is experienced with insolvency transactions and corporate recovery engagements under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, as well as the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act. He also helps clients with reorganizations, planning, acquisitions and divestitures from a tax as well as a corporate finance perspective.
Derek spent eight years in commercial banking as an assistant vice president and branch manager for a mid-market chartered commercial bank before returning to advising clients in public practice.

Derek earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) in accounting (Co-op) from the University of Northern British Columbia in 2001. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Certified General Accountant (CGA) (Accounting and Information Systems Audit) in 2008 and completed all three levels of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program in 2010.

Derek is treasurer of the Downtown Business Improvement Association and the Northern B.C. Friends of Children Society, and board chair of the Prince George Airport Authority. He is a past president of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce.
